■ Craigroyston sweep
forward again in their first ever Scottish Cup tie
Craigroyston kicked off their first Scottish Cup
tie
in the club's
history with a home match against Winchburgh.
It took
only 3 minutes for the action to start.
Jon Bertram was well positioned to clear a shot from Nathan
Blacklock which was perfectly placed to beat Buraimoh in the
Craigroyston goal. Then in the 7th Craigroyston’s
Harvey Young was tripped in the Winchburgh box and young referee
Patrick Munro had no hesitation and awarding Craigroyston a
penalty. Sam Addy took responsibility for the penalty which was
placed over the bar.
Frazer
Crichton then had a chance in the 12th minute but his
shot went just past Stephen Bryant’s post and out for a goal
kick. Then in the 17th minute Craigroyston got the
goal they deserved, Frazer Crichton struck a shot from point
blank range that was extremely well save by Bryant but Aiden McMuray
was there to slot the ball home into an empty net.
Jack
Buraimoh had to look lively in the 28th minute after
an excellent shot was struck by Nathan Blacklock and the keeper
saved well.
HT 1-0
It took
only 1 minute into the second half for Craigroyston to further
their lead, with a goal from Luke Meakin. Robbie Fairley almost
pulled one back for Winchburgh but Frazer Crichton got back to
clear the danger. Then in the 43rd minute
Craigroyston got a third with a goal from Crichton, after Bryant
made another superb save Crichton was first to react and got the
rebound.
In
the 55th minute Crichton sealed the victory for
Craigroyston when he made a solo run from the halfway line and
smashed a shot past Bryant high into the net. Craigroyston were
awarded another penalty in the 62 minute after Ewen Wilson was
tripped. Sam Knight stepped up and struck the ball with extreme
power but Bryant pulled off what was the save off the match to
ensure the score stayed at 4-0.
Craigroyston progress through to the next round of the Scottish
Cup but both teams have to be commended for the effort they put
into this wonderful match.
