U19 CHALLENGE MATCH
MEGGETLAND
EDINBURGH CITY 2 1 WALLSEND BC (NEWCASTLE)
Stenhouse
Moore

In a highly entertaining and very competitive friendly, Edin City U19's led by captain Shaun Harrison,  just edged out their opponents Wallsend B.C. from Newcastle.

The game was played on the new Meggetland Prestige pitch and was in excellent condition to play good passing football. This indeed was a superb venue for this game between two very good sides at this age group.

It was City who struck first when the impressive Peter Stenhouse managed to weave his way past four defenders before slipping the ball past the advancing goalkeeper. City were to score again when Dale Moore found space inside the box to curl the ball beyond the goalkeeper and into the corner of the net. Not to be outdone, Wallsend came right back into the game and when a corner was cleared to the edge of the 18 yard box to be met by the Wallsend midfielder who drilled his right foot shot low into the bottom corner of the net.

Wallsend were denied an equaliser when their forward tried to curl his left foot shot past Craig Strong in the City goal only for the keeper to pull of a marvellous finger tipped save. Both teams had further chances as the game raged on but the final whistle sounded to end the game 2-1 in City's favour.
