Firrhill HS girls'
side from S1/S2 won the inaugural Girls' Football Festival
organised by students of Telford College under the SFA/Bank of
Scotland Soccer One initiative. In a close final they finally
overcame a stubborn Royal High side, and goalkeeper Finlay
Clements, with a goal from Lindsay Ross just two minutes from
time.
Around a hundred
girls across 10 school sides descended on Wardie to display
their skills. Each of the schools from Boroughmuir, Liberton,
Trinity, St Thomas, James Gillespies, Drummond, Royal High, WHEC,
Leith Academy and Broughton competed in group matches before the
eventual winners of each mini-league progressed to the final.
The event was energetically run by
Lauren Miller, Ian
Philip, Justin Jempson and Shelly Cummings,
4 students from Telford College's Sports Coaching course.
The Pink will have
full results from the competition shortly.
