UNDER 13 SCOTTISH CUP SEMI FINAL
GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 3 2 MUSSELBURGH WINDSOR

Musselburgh Windsor 13s suffered heartbreak on Sunday narrowly  losing in the Semi Final of the Scottish Cup to Glenafton Athletic.

Playing against a strong wind in the first half, not for the first time this season, Windsor started slowly. Glenafton were causing problems down both flanks and it was from a cross swung in from the left that they took the lead in ten minutes. Windsor'S defence had trouble clearing and the alert Glenafton forward knocked the ball home.

Windsor came more into the game as the half went on with Thomson and MacFarlane winning the midfield battles. Both Edwardson and McConville came close with first time efforts. In the minutes to half time both teams scored similar goals. First a corner from Glenafton was missed by everyone and was bundled home at the back post. Windsor then went up the park and won a free kick on the left. McConville curled the ball to the back post and Thomson stroked the ball home.

Charged up by the goal just before half time Windsor came roaring out of the blocks at the start of the second half. For the first ten minutes of the half Glenafton struggled to get out of their own half and the pressure finally paid off. A pinpoint cross by Jordon Burrows found Lee Edwardson steaming in at the back post to volley past the Glenafton keeper.

From this point on it looked as though Windsor would go on a get the winner. Backed by the vocal travelling support they kept pressing the home team's defence. However with ten minutes to go Glenafton broke up the right and the ball was bundled home after a scramble in the six yard box.

Windsor then threw everything into the last few minutes and everyone in the crowd were convinced that Windsor equalised when Robert MacFarlane smashed a right foot shot towards the top corner. However somehow the Glenafton keeper got his fingertips to it to touch it round for the corner.

At the final whistle Windsor players sunk to their knees. Having thrown everything into this game it was unfortunate that one team had to lose. However the players should all be extremely proud of their displays this season and they still have much to look forward to, with 2 finals, a semi final and a quarter final to come, as well as ten league games !!
