Musselburgh
Windsor U13's continued their fine run of form, that saw them
win the Youth Team of the Month in December/January, with a
fantastic Scottish Cup quarter final win over Lewis Utd Youth
from Aberdeen.
Musselburgh Windsor
progressed to the Semi Final of the Scottish Cup on Sunday with
a well deserved victory against a fine Lewis Utd team from
Aberdeen. Playing in front of a large crowd at Pinkie, Windsor
started slowly and the boys from Aberdeen created most of the
chances in the first 15 minutes. A well taken goal by the strong
centre forward put Lewis Utd in to a well deserved lead after 10
minutes. As the half went on however, Windsor started to get
their passing game going and created a few chances with Jack
Thomson and Jordon Burrows both coming close. Just before half
time Lee Edwardson sent the home crowd wild with a sweet left
foot strike past the diving Lewis keeper.
The home team continued where they left off at the start of the
second half and much of the game was played out in the Lewis Utd
half. Jordon Burrows tireless running paid off when he slid in
at the back post to finish Ryan McConville's cross shot. From
this point on there was only going to be one winner but with
such a slender lead there were a few nervous moments in the
Windsor box. The third and decisive goal came with two minutes
to go where Martin Innes rose above the Lewis defence to power
in a header.
This game was played in a tremendous spirit with both sides keen
on playing attractive football, a comment echoed by the referee
and both his Assistants at full time.
This Windsor side are now lining up for a tremendous end to the
season with one cup final, three semi finals and a quarter final
still to come.
Squad: Laing, Hook, Innes, Tufail, Harrold, Turnbull,
Thomson, Greig, Moffat, Burrows, Edwardson, McConville, Watson,
