SPARTANS WIN ANDERSON CUP
ON a night when many football fans were watching Ronaldihno, Henry and co in action in the Champions League final in Paris, Spartans 3rd XI managed a hard fought 3-1 win in extra time over old rivals Edinburgh University in the Anderson Cup Final in the Lothian & Edinburgh AFA. At half time the score was 0.-0 with the University keeper making good saves, the pick of those being a volley from Stish Murray from 18yd out. In the second half, the University come into to the game but an Adam Perry goal with 20mins gone looked like it would be enough to seal the victory in regular time for the Spartans.  However, with less than 10mins to go the University snatch an
equaliser to take the game to extra time. The first half of extra time once again saw Adam Perry finding himself free for a 4yd screamer after a good set-piece to put one Spartans hand on the cup. Spartans continued to push forward in the second half and Adam Smith who had worked tirelessly up front all evening was finally rewarded when he slotted away the third goal to
clinch victory for Spartans. Congratulations also to Dorian Ogunro who was awarded the man-of-the-match award for his great display in the middle of the park.
