  About us...

The Pink was a famous Edinburgh sports newspaper that used to be produced on a Saturday evening bringing readers the latest news and results of football and other sports around the country. Amazingly it was on the streets by around 6.30pm with a full match report on games involving Hibs and Hearts. Then came the internet and the need for such a service was killed overnight. The Pink was last produced about 8 years ago.

In 2007 it took a new life online with a focus on grassroots football in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Everyone knows someone who plays football be it as a player, parent, brother, sister, grandparent, girlfriend, boyfriend, coach, referee or just as an interested spectator. Thousands upon thousands play and watch every week.

At its peak in 2008 visitor numbers reached 20,000 a month. The Pink is now being relaunched both as a website and as a newspaper. It is being established as a social enterprise meaning it will be run for the grassroots community and not for shareholders. But it will be run as an enterprise meaning that it needs to earn enough income to cover its costs. Any profits will be reinvested back into The Pink or grassroots football.
